Company Profile
Leeston butchery was first opened in 1886 and was renamed to Ellesmere butchery in the 1920's. We are the oldest butchery in Canterbury with a history spanning 131 years. We are located within the rural township of Leeston, 20 mins from Christchurch.
We are not a factory that produces run of the mill products in high volumes for the masses. We produce high quality products that are manufactured by hand from start to finish by current owners Chris & Sue Brown.
We provide a retail service through our shop, a wholesale service to hospitality, a private processing/home kill service, an online store and a range of the best bacon and sausage products available in retail ready packs to selected retailers. We are registered as a duel operator butchery that runs its own MPI approved Risk Management Program.
99% of our meat is sourced locally and aged correctly to maximize flavor and to ensure it is as tender as possible and we produce 99% of the products we sell!
We have a modern plant that is equipped with three chillers , two walk in freezers , two cutting rooms, a smallgoods room, a cook room and more.
